Herman Allen, 96, a retired Trane employee, U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, died Friday, May 13, 2016 at the V.A. Medical Center. He was born November 9, 1919 in Floyd County, son of the late James Harve and Molly Gearheart Allen. Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 76 years, Lucille Adams Allen; son, Jimmy Ray (Kathleen Daniel) Allen; three grandchildren, LaDonna Rae Burton, Darrin Scott (Jennifer Cole) Allen, Gary Kris Allen; nine great grandchildren, Cassey Rae Groves, Paul Eugene Groves III, Daniel Adams Burton, Macy Nicole Allen, Landon Reif Allen, Courtney Renee Allen, Chelsea Lynne Allen, Logan Bailey Allen, Parker Craig Allen; five great, great grandchildren, Paul Eugene Groves IV, Noah Bradley Groves, Laina Rae Turner, Madison Leigh Burton, Eden Faye Lanter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Horne, Peggy Joyce Dudleson; and two brothers, Bartee and Harold Allen. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Bob Mallory with burial in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Darrin Allen, Gary Allen, Paul Groves III, Daniel Burton, Logan Allen, Landon Allen, Parker Allen, Jay Brunker, and Mason Turner. Honorary bearers will be LaDonna Burton, Jennifer Allen, Cassey Groves, Macy Allen, Courtney Allen, Chelsea Allen, Jim and Jo Ann Gullett, Bobby and Marsha Sloan, Sam and Evelyn Bologna, Curtis and Wanda Cole, Troy Burton, Allen Carr, Betty Terry, and Jodie Kidd. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lexington V.A. Medical Center, VAMC 1101 Veterans Drive 135-CD Lexington KY, 40502 .
