Brenda F. Jones, 78, a retired music educator for the Bourbon County school system, wife of James B. Jones, died Friday, March 3, 2017 at her home. She was born August 17, 1938 in Opelika, Alabama, daughter of the late George and Georgia English Filer. Brenda was a 1956 graduate of Caldwell County High School, a graduate of Transylvania University, and received her Masters of Music Education from the University of Kentucky. She was the former organist for Paris First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and was currently serving as the choir director and organist for Cynthiana Baptist Church, a position she had held for 30 years. In addition to her husband, Brenda is survived by two sons, William Mark Sabel, Richard Lee Sabel; two stepdaughters, Gail Jones (William) Doyne, Sheri Jones (Ken) Hall; grandchildren, Bradley Hall, Michael Webster, Brittany Doyne, Jason Webster, Katie Hall Nolan, James Webster, Ali Doyne, Leigh Anna Mattingly, Emily Sabel, Morgan Sabel, Joey Sabel; great grandchildren, Max Webster, Aubrey Leigh Webster, Troy James Webster, Hunter Brock, Lola Gail Brock, Ellie Webster, Lennon Gail Webster, Charles Michael Webster, Clayton James Nolan; and a brother, Ron Filer. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Patrick Whyte with burial in Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be John Gatlin, Maurice Lykins, Ron Garrison, Bradley Hall, Ken Hall, and Michael Webster. Honorary bearers will be Jason Alan Webster, James Franklin Webster, the Deacons of Cynthiana Baptist Church, and her great grandchildren. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
