Obituary for Amy Ruth Mattox (Reid)

Amy Ruth Reid Mattox, 81, of North Middletown, widow of William Clay Mattox, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at her home. She was born February 24, 1937 in North Middletown, daughter of the late Henry Clay and Lydia Johnson Reid. Amy was a graduate of North Middletown High School and was a member of Gateway Christian Church in Mount Sterling. She is survived by two daughters, Athena M. (Eddie) Richard, Paris, Connie M. Stamper, North Middletown; a son, Bill (Debbie) Mattox Jr., North Middletown; five grandchildren, Ashley (Derek) Osborne, Katie Richard, Allen (Charlene) Stamper, Josh C. (Davika) Mattox, Daniel E. Mattox; two sisters, Edith Elam, Jean (James) Franklin; and several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Amy was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Keith Stamper; three sisters, Mary Emma Sams, Hazel Williams, Helen Williams; and two brothers, J.V. and Kenneth Reid. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with funeral service at 1:00 p.m. by Bill Kilgore. Burial will be in North Middletown Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Allen Stamper, Josh Mattox, Daniel Mattox, Derek Osborne, Charles Holmes, and Paul Lyle. Honorary bearers will be Dave Spencer, Fred Lehman, Greg Lyle, and James Franklin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Bluegrass Hospice Care or Gateway Christian Church.
