Condolence: I am the "newest" cousin in the family,having become part of it in 1979 when Charlie Harber,(Nean and June's nephew)and I married. Over the years, we made a number of trips back to KY from CA and I have continued to do so after Charlie died in 2006. No trip to Lexington was ever complete without a day spent at the farm in Paris. I was there last in September of last year and had a great visit with Nean and June. I insisted on just a quick snack for lunch and, as usual, country ham, fresh fruits, vegetables hot rolls, etc covered the table. June looked good and matched me bite for bite at the meal! I so appreciated his warm welcome to me each and every time and I thank him and Nean for all the flowers they have faithfully taken to Charlie at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. June will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Love you Nean, and plan to see you soon. Nancy (and David, Robyn, Andy and Alex)

Condolence: Uncle June will be missed so very much! Though I hadn't talked to him in many years, I could picture him sitting at the kitchen table, smiling and telling stories each time I received a sweet note from Aunt Nean. They are my last connections to my Old Kentucky Home! If asked what kind of man he was, I would say he was one of the most hard-working, honest, generous and kindest people I've been blessed to know, and an all-around Fine Man. Wish I could be there today and tomorrow to celebrate his life with our family, but trust that we are praying for each of you there, and sending hugs and much love to Aunt Nean and everyone there, Jan, Aunt Kay Combs, and all of our family.

Condolence: Dear Family, We are the children of Aunt Nean's oldest brother, Vern Combs. All of us have visited the farm in Kentucky many times over the years and gloried in the love, generosity, and humor of our wonderful,kind uncle. We all glory in the picture of sustaining and genuine love created by the 66-year marriage between Uncle June and Aunt Nean, two people who got what they truly deserved--one another. For myself, what I remember is that when Uncle June hugged me, he was so strong that my back would crack (in a nice way!). And that he once told me that he didn't like to leave the farm because their little dog might get lonely. As these stories show, Uncle June was the best combination possible of strength and kindness. Aunt Nean, you know how much we all loved him, mourn his passing, and rejoice in remembering his life. I hope the testimonies from all your nieces and nephews bring you comfort now. We love you. Condolence: Uncle June was a wonderful man loved by all who knew him. I have many wonderful childhood memories of times spent at the farm with him and Aunt Nean. I will miss him dearly.

Condolence: My 'Ole Meanie' is finally meeting my mom on the banks of the Alabama!! My most favorite uncle who taught me I could "kick like a mule"! I have a lifetime of wonderful memories I will cherish for the rest of my life! He was truly one of a kind... they don't make 'em like Uncle June any more! I love him and miss him terribly.

Condolence: Uncle "Hoss" will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his "Neano". I can still smell the dried sweat and tobacco on him as he tossed me around as a child after a hard day's work in the fields ... we'll miss his laugh and countless stories. Condolence: 35 years ago, an old farmer put me on his lap and taught me to drive his tractor. Yes, I learned to drive on a tractor. He worked hard all his life, raising cattle, pigs, sheep and growing tabacco. I remember him talking about the market and prices for his crop but never did I hear an unkind word leave his mouth. As a kid when we would visit the farm, he would take my dad and me with him when he went out doing chores, a thing I'm sure only slowed him down, and frequently stop or go a longer way to show us something that was usually fascinating to me. I loved that old green truck and the big red tractor, cruizing to the back fields to drop feed for the cows and the work shop off the side of the old barn with all it's strange ancient tools. He always had time for this city slicker kid and his dad, and I loved that too. But most of all, I loved him for the great guy he was. RIP Uncle June, you will be missed.

Condolence: June was the kindest most unique individual I ever met, his wisdom was beyond anything that could be taught. June will leave a vacancy in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Thank God I had the privilege of growing up with him in my life. C.K. has crossed the Alabama river and will have a table set for us when we get there.

Condolence: June and Nean are the heart of the Combs/Kiser family. No visit to Kentucky is complete without a visit with June and Nean, their hospitality, storytelling, good humor and generous sharing of time and Kentucky cuisine. Jay learned many a lesson about life and farming from June, working beside him in tobacco in his younger years. We observed June's interest in each member of this large family from taking children on rides on the tractor to fishing with Pop, Jay's father, to attention to the Combs' grandparents in their later years.
