Obituary for George Bernard Nichols

George Bernard Nichols, 88, a retired farmer, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, widower of Patsy Hill Nichols, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at his home. He was born September 1, 1928 in Harrison County, son of the late Shelby Isaac and Ida Elizabeth Florence Nichols and was educated at Headquarters School. George is survived by a daughter, Ramona (Granville) Graves; two sons, Bobby (Barbara) Nichols, Jack Nichols; a daughter-in-law, Debi Nichols; two stepchildren, Tony (Kay) Denniston, Karen (Chris) Shapley; a brother, Marshall Nichols; nine grandchildren; and five step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Clay Nichols; a granddaughter; nine brothers; and a sister. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. John McGuire with burial in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Larry Ring, Junior Nichols, Clendon Nichols, Walter Stone, Larry Nichols, Billy Nichols, Johnny Wyatt, Mike Williams, and David Taylor Jr. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Alzheimer’s Association.
