Obituary for Peggy Owens (Oliver)

Peggy Mae Owens died Saturday, January 12, 2019 at her home on Houstondale Farm. A longtime resident of Bourbon County, she was preceded in death by Robert E. Owens, well known realtor and land owner in Paris.

Known for her inner and outer beauty, people admired her style of fashion. She enjoyed exploring counties of Kentucky with close friend Mariem Bingham Harris of Texas, and the late Kate Mann, while collecting antiques. Peggy loved gardening, and would provide arrangements of literally thousands of zinnias for her boy’s large consignments at Keeneland and Fasig Tipton. She loved land, nature, gardens, cattle, horses, and the University of Kentucky. Highly thought of, she had hundreds of close friends. She would chuckle talking to Catesby Clay about when they both appeared on this earth.

Survived by two sons, Norman D. Owens, grandchildren Mackie and Lukas; and Phil T. Owens (Michelle Owens), grandchildren Will, Jack and Lily.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 34184, Lexington, KY 40588 and/or First Baptist Church Van Fund, 919 Pleasant Street, Paris, KY 40361.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Bourbon County Fire, Rescue and Ambulance Service for their extraordinary care and service; also to the families of Robert Sturgeon, Rocky Amburgey and Mary Louise Fister.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life followed by a luncheon at First Baptist Church on Sunday, February 3, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
