David Holmes O’Neill, age 80, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at his home. He was born December 05, 1938 in Paris, the son of the late William “Pete” O’Neill and the late Alma Katherine Neal Stapleton. He was a graduate of Paris High School, a veteran having served our country in the United States Air Force, was retired from IBM as well as having worked as a Caterer in the “family” catering business with his beloved mom, Alma Stapleton. He was also a member of Paris First United Methodist Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lane “Mickey” O’Neill.

He is survived by a daughter, Dana (Jerry) Alexander; a son, James Arthur Holmes (Tracy) O'Neill; five grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Mitchell, Dustin O'Neill, Ashley (Caleb) Staggs, Sierra Black, Kelly Black; and seven great-grandchildren, Megan Mitchell, Maria Mitchell, Henry Staggs, Lagertha Houchin, Jacob Black, Jaidalyn Black, and Kelly Black.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019, at Paris First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Cain officiating. The family request visitation prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Casket bearers are Cary Barr, Chris Mitchell, Dustin O'Neill, Jerry Alexander, Jason Ivy, and Jarrett Ivy. A private inurnment will follow at a later date in the Paris Cemetery.
