Obituary for Betty Flora (Stewart)

Betty Stewart Flora, of Paris, widow of Eugene Swinford “Dynamite” Flora, departed this life on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Bourbon Heights, having attained the age of 88. She was born on March 29, 1931, in Bourbon County, to the late Dallas and Gertrude Kenny Stewart Caywood. Betty was a graduate of North Middletown High School, a member of Trinity First Church of God where she had formerly served as a Sunday School teacher and had served on the church council. She was retired from South Central Bell Telephone Company where she worked for 33 years as a Service Representative, and from Bourbon Agricultural Bank, having worked in the bookkeeping department for 9 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and reading. Besides her husband, Eugene, she was preceded in death by a sister, Hildreth Ratliff of Winchester.

Betty was a very sweet lady who will be missed by one and all, but especially by her one surviving sister, Bobbye Gaunce of Paris, and her nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Betty Stewart Flora will be on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. William E. Singleton officiating. Interment will follow in Paris Cemetery with casket bearers being Jeff Gaunce, Bruce Ratliff, Jason Ratliff, Isaac Waugh, Tony Fryman and Charles “Butch” Johnston. Honorary bearers are Nancy Fryman, Agnes Singleton and Donna Bussell. Visitation will begin after 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
