Obituary for Mildred Marie Pollitt (Corns)

Mildred Marie Corns Pollitt, 90, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. A native of Lewis County, Kentucky, Mildred was born on November 22, 1929 to Mr. & Mrs. George & Ethel Corns. She later moved to Paris, Kentucky, where she spent most of her life. She was a devoted member of Hilltop Wesleyan Church, where she taught Sunday school and served on the board. She was also a gifted quilter, doll collector, and an excellent cook. After rearing six children, Mildred went back to school to obtain her GED, and also learned to drive—even taking up a local paper route for the Citizen-Advertiser. Her greatest joys, however, were her six children, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by a son, Keith Allen Pollitt, and by her husband of 54 years, Robert G. Pollitt, as well as a sister, Thelma Tucker and brothers, Everett Corns, James Corns and Howard Corns. She is survived by five children: Danny Pollitt and wife Brenda of Flemingsburg, Jackie Pollitt and wife Sharon of Paris, Terry Pollitt and wife Charlotte of Bossier City, Louisiana, Bonnie Pollitt Jolly and husband Billy of Paris, Penny Pollitt Hillard and husband Bobby of Frankfort; five grandchildren: Darrin Pollitt, Jason Pollitt, Bradley Pollitt and wife Lee Anne, Marshall Jolly and wife Elizabeth, Christopher Jolly and partner Rickey Barnett; and three great grandchildren: Michael, Bethany, and Jonathan Pollitt. Also surviving are her sisters, Hazel Browning, Shelby Purnell, Lora Lamar, Lillian Thomas, Judy Black (Earl), and a brother, Bobby Corns (Judy).

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, both at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The Rev. Marshall Jolly and The Rev. Ronn Pelfrey will conduct the service. Pallbearers are: Billy Jolly, Marshall Jolly, Christopher Jolly, Bradley Pollitt, George Bills, and Jerry Allen. Honorary pallbearers are: Jason Pollitt, Darrin Pollitt, Dr. C. Ray Young, Jesse Crockett, Steven Crockett, and the staff at Robertson County Health Care Facility. The family extends its thanks for the excellent care provided by the Robertson County Health Care Facility and Hospice of Hope.
