Obituary for Alma Boardman (Doyle)
Alma Doyle Boardman died peacefully at her home on February 23, 2022, with loved ones by her side. Alma was born at home on January 1, 1926, in Bourbon County, the 3rd of 6 children born to the late W.O. Doyle, Sr., and Bertha May Adams Doyle. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings W.O. Doyle, Jr., Margaret Hinton Doyle McKinney, Bobbie Doyle Reynolds, Enoch Hart Doyle, and Billy Bryant Doyle. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Olin Thomas Boardman, nephews, Richard Owen McKinney, James McKinney II, J.C. Doyle, Ronald Bryant Doyle, Danny Doyle McKinney, Allen Owen McKinney, Richard Thomas Boardman, nephew-in-law, Larry W. Long, a niece, Janice Doyle Long, also sister-in-law, Mary Frances Ryles Boardman, brothers-in-law, John W. Boardman, Sam C. Reynolds, Sr., and sisters-in-law, Helen Hamilton Doyle and Jenny Ritchey Doyle.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Leah Montgomery Boardman, a sister-in-law, Phyllis Wedding and many loving nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly: James Wallace (Juanita) McKinney, Bobbie McKinney Roe, Wanda McKinney (Donnie) Crump, Lola Darlene McKinney, John Enoch Doyle, Billy Roger (Lisa) Doyle, Patty Lou Doyle, Judy Doyle Hudson, Sam C. (Frankie) Reynolds, Jr., Lisa Ann Reynolds, Lynn Reynolds, and John (Pat) Boardman, as well as many great nieces and nephews and now great greats.
Alma was a civic leader as co-founder of the Paris-Bourbon County League of Women Voters where her roles included President, Vice President, and Secretary. She also cam corded many civic meetings to keep the people updated on Paris and Bourbon County news. She was a charter member of the Bardwell Homemakers being secretary many years. She was co-founder of the Operation Food Basket with Sarah Frances Swinford back in the 80’s, and served as the board secretary, as well as working as a volunteer handing out food to the needy. Alma served several terms on the Blue Grass Community Action Board, being appointed by Judge Donnie Foley. During that time, she was presented the H.H. Greene award for being a board member and being civic and community minded. She loved her church – First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Paris, serving many capacities from Chairman of the Board for two terms, Sunday School teacher, Secretary and President of the Agape circle, Deacon, Elder, Elder Emeritus.
Services for Alma Boardman are entrusted to Hinton-Turner Funeral Home and will be held at First Christian Church in Paris on Monday, February 28, 2022. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
Services for Alma will be at the First Christian Church, 911 High Street, Paris, Kentucky. Burial will follow at the Paris Cemetery beside her beloved Tommy.
Pallbearers will be nephews: Jimmy Wallace McKinney, Sam Cooke Reynolds, Jr., Glen Ferrell, John Enoch Doyle, Billy R. Doyle, Wes Long, Clay Crump, Tony Hummel, Bret Boardman, and Stephen Boardman.
Honorary bearers are Juanita Sutherland, Kenney Roseberry, Elders of the First Christian Church, Todd Cockley, Ann Young, and Kelly Catlett.
Services will be led by Rev. Jeff Bell and Dr. Henry Hanna.
