Obituary for Anne Florence Brence (Lawson)

Anne Lawson Florence Brence departed this life unexpectedly at her home, on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, having attained the age of 90 years. She was born on June 22, 1930 in Bourbon County, KY, the daughter of the late Ezekiel Thomas Lawson and Alice Smith Lawson, was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, having received her bachelor’s degree, and was retired, having taught at Paris Elementary School. Anne was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, Bluegrass Teachers Association, and First Baptist Church. She was a very kindhearted passionate lady who loved animals, her garden, shopping, and gatherings of her family and friends that she called family.

Surviving is a brother Ralph (Jody) Lawson; two nieces, Erica and Samantha and their families; cousins, Morgan Allen, Robert Lawson; special friends, Sheila B. McConnell. Jane Carol Johnson; and her beloved feline companions, Ozzie and Blue.

The funeral service for Anne Lawson Florence Brence will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens with casket bearers being, Bill T. McConnell, Scott McConnell, Matthew McConnell, Todd McConnell, Billy Biddle, Andrew Biddle, Morgan Allen, and Tyler Garrett. Honorary bearers are Sheila B. McConnell, Melinda Biddle, Jane Carol Johnson, Robert Lawson, and Pat and John Boardman. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations to Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504.
