Obituary for Carl Gene Goodwin

Carl Gene Goodwin, husband of Ramona Faye Sartin Goodwin, of Paris, departed this life on Saturday, July 9, 2022, with family by his side at Bourbon Heights, having attained the age of 86 years. Carl was born on November 6, 1935, in Fleming County, Kentucky, the son of the late Ivard Leslie and Lillian Dunaway Goodwin, a graduate of Lewis County High School, attended Morehead State University as well as the University of Kentucky and was a retired mechanical engineer. He was a member of the Model A Restoration Club, Central Kentucky Train Club, a Kentucky Colonel, a poll worker for many years, performed in the Lions Club Dixieland Show for many years as well, and retired from Monessen. He was an active member of Paris Church of the Nazarene where he served as trustee, song leader, and active in Operation Food Basket. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dennis Goodwin, Geraldine Williams, James Goodwin, and Florence Hodges.
Along with his wife Ramona, he is survived by their children, Randall (Janie) Goodwin, Michael (Connie) Goodwin, Cheryl Goodwin, Bonita Goodwin, and Teresa Goodwin; Eight grandchildren, Vera Mosgrove, Erin Goodwin, Rachel (John) Combs, Randi (Joel) Reid, Luke (Rebecca) Goodwin, Emily (Clint) Gibbs, Nathan Beaton, and Jennifer Beaton. Also surviving are fifteen great grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Compton, Wanda Simpson, Nancy Terrell, Jack Goodwin, and Scott Goodwin.
The funeral service for Carl Gene Goodwin will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. David Mefford and Rev. Michael Clyburn officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens with casket bearers being Matthew Saylor, Clint Gibbs, John Combs, and Nathan Beaton. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time for the service.
