David Barrow Dick, 80, Plum Lick Road, author, farmer, and retired network correspondent, U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at his home. He was born February 18, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of the late Dr. Samuel Stephens and Lucille Crouch Dick, a graduate of North Middletown High School, and received his Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts Degrees in literature from the University of Kentucky. David served on the North Middletown Cemetery board, a Paul Harris Fellow of the Paris Rotary Club, a Kentucky Colonel, and was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Eulalie Cumbo Dick; a son, Samuel Stephens (Noelle) Dick II, Lexington; four daughters, Deborah Ann Farr, Las Vegas, NV, Catherine D. (Rusty) O'Shields, Suwannee, GA, Nell D. (Tim) Blankenship, Paris, Ravy D. (John) Luschek, Alexandria, KY; seven grandchildren, Samuel S. Dick III, Leah Dick, Christina Dick, Jay O'Shields, Joshua O'Shields, Timothy Blankenship, Celina Blankenship; a great grandson, Samuel S. Dick IV; a sister, Florence D. Marzoni, Birmingham, AL; two nephews, Harry T. (Carolyn) Richart, Dr. Anthony (Priscilla) Marzoni; and three nieces, Ann R. (Jim) Harney, Liza R. (Greg) Pennington, and Jane Marzoni. A sister, Jane D. Richart, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 19, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church by The Rev. Donavan Cain with burial in the North Middletown Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Timothy Blankenship, Samuel Stephens Dick II, Samuel S. Dick III, Harry T. Richart III, John P. Luschek II, Rusty O'Shields, Bill Bradford, and Michael Hendrix. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren, Betty Allman, F.C. "Tyke" Bryan, Judge Sarah Combs, Glenn Conques, James Harney, Jackie Larkins, Carl McGlone, Harry T. Richart IV, Matthew Richart, Neal Richart, William B. Rogers, Ron Sheets, Robert Turley, Carl West, Dr. Scott Pierce, Dr. Thomas Stone, staff of Kentucky Living Magazine, North Middletown Cemetery Board, community of Plum Lick, and the people of Kentucky. Visitation will be 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, or the North Middletown Cemetery.
