Obituary for James C. Bowman

James C. Bowman, age 92, widower of Mattie Elizabeth Williams Bowman, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Hospice Care Center at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born June 12, 1929 in Paris, Kentucky, son of the late William Martin and Lena Mae Saunders Bowman and was a graduate of Center Hill High School. Jim was a retired insurance agent for American General Insurance Company, former produce manager for A&P Grocery, a Deacon of First Baptist Church-Paris, and was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army with the rank of Corporal.

He is survived by two sons, James Martin (Susan) Bowman, Robert Noel (Renee) Bowman; a daughter, Susan (John) Stubblefield; four grandchildren, Dr. Jeremy (Elizabeth) Smith, Megan (Brandon) Smither, James Ray Bowman, Courtney Ballard; a sister, Lelia B. Henry; sister-in-law, Clara Bowman; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, William H. "Bud" Bowman and Thomas M. Bowman.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kyle Sullivan officiating.
