Obituary for James Curtis Franklin

James Curtis Franklin, husband of Jean Reid Franklin for 71 years, departed this life on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Bourbon Heights, having attained the age of 90. He was born in Bourbon County on July 12, 1929, the son of the late Curtis and Blanche Pope Franklin, was a graduate of North Middletown High School where he played basketball for the Bourbon Kings, was a retired farmer, landscaper, and maintenance worker. He loved hunting Indian rocks and basketball, especially Rick Pitino basketball, becoming a University of Louisville Cardinal fan when Pitino became coach. He was a member of Spears Mill Baptist Church.

Besides his wife Jean, he is survived by two sons, Phillip Franklin (Rhonda), Kenny Franklin (Cathy); a grandson, James Clayton Franklin; and a granddaughter, Sarah Franklin.

A private graveside service will be held for James Curtis Franklin at the Paris Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Phil Ronk officiating. Interment will follow in Paris Cemetery.
