Jessie Jane Spears, age 99, daughter of the late Noa Spears and Fannie Harris Spears, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020. She was a graduate of the Paris City School and Eastern Kentucky University, taught thirty three years in the city school, a member and deacon of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a charter member and past President of Iota Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, and former memorial chairman of the Bourbon County chapter of the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by cousins, Spears Hinton (Bonnie) of Orange Park, Florida, Cecilia Tucker of Daphne, Alabama, Mary Louis Phelps and Kevin Phelps, both of Lexington, Kentucky, Patrick Phelps of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kellie Carter (Mark) of Prospect, Kentucky.

A private graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Paris Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Bell officiating. Interment to follow with casket bearers being Kevin Phelps, Patrick Phelps, Clyde Parsons, Richard Eads, Heath Small, and Phillip Hurst. Honorary bearer will be Bob Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Bourbon County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Bourbon Heights Activity Fund or the First Christian Church Disciple Women’s Scholarship Fund.
