Obituary for Lelia Pearl Henry (Bowman )

Lelia Pearl Bowman Henry, 91 years old, widow of Tollie Young Henry, passed away October 14, 2022, at Bourbon Heights Nursing Home. Her parents were the late William Martin and Lena Mae Saunders Bowman.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Clara Mae Bowman, of Paris, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her husband, Tollie; son, Mark Alan Henry; brothers, James Charles Bowman, William Henry Bowman, and Thomas Morgan Bowman; sisters-in-law, Mattie Williams Bowman and Noreeta Walton Bowman, all of whom preceded her in death.

She was a member of the first graduating class (1941) of Bourbon County (Vocational) High School, received her Bachelors, Masters, and Rank I from the University of Kentucky, and retired as Paris High School Media Specialist I (Librarian) in 1991.

Having joined First Baptist Church in 1941, she taught Sunday School, and was an adult choir member, both for over 50 years. She served in the Woman’s Missionary Union, as church librarian and historian, was a member of the Primetimers Senior Adult Group, and the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class.
She was affiliated with Bluegrass Retired Teachers Association, Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, and Bourbon County High School Alumni Association.

Special interests that brought her joy included reading, the arts, wildflowers, collecting world coins, and University of Kentucky Sports.

The Chapel Service for Lelia Pearl Bowman Henry will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Paris Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Kyle Sullivan officiating.
