Obituary for Louise Biddle (Purcell)
After a lengthy illness, Martha Louise Biddle, the wife of Carroll Glenn Biddle, passed away on March 3, 2020. She was born August 13, 1930, the daughter of the late Herman Harrison and Hattie Mae Leet Purcell in Mason County, Kentucky. Her family moved to Fleming County, where she met her groom for over 71 years. Half-sisters Ruth Givogre and Minnie Leet preceded her in death. Her younger sister Norma Jane Ruark resides in Fleming County.
She was blessed with three children and their spouses who adored her: Glenna and Jim Linville; Drs. Michael and Wendy Biddle; and Libby and Keith Lenox. Her grandchildren: Brent (Amanda) Hutchison, J.D. of Williamson, GA., Jenny (Travis) Earlywine, Brad Linville, Stephanie Lenox, Psy.D., of Charlottesville, VA.; Madison Lenox, Psy.D. candidate, Fort Lauderdale, FL.; and great-grandchildren: Luke and Noah Earlywine, Tyler, Parker, and Walker Hutchison, will sorely miss her.
Louise was an active member of Central Baptist Church of Paris for over 50 years. She served in the choir, choir director when duty called, and as WMU director. For many decades, she taught piano to hundreds of children and adults of Bourbon County, all of whom she loved.
She was devoted to her husband, Carroll, and worked along-side him at C & L Biddle Economy Furniture in Paris. She loved teaching water aerobics at the YMCA and made many friends there. She and Carroll enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida during the winter months. While there, she taught water aerobics for fellow Kentucky “snow-birds.”
Due to declining health, Carroll cared for her for several years at their residence with the assistance of caregivers who treated her like family. She eventually was admitted to Grand Haven Nursing Home in Cynthiana, Kentucky, January 2019. While there, her health continued to decline despite being taken care of by a staff who loved her.
“Louise,” as called by her husband and friends, “mother,” “momma,” and “mom,” as called by her children, and “Nena,” “Nana,” or “Mrs. B.” as referred to by her grandchildren, is greatly missed. We thank God Almighty for her life and the love, devotion, and talents she shared with her family and friends. We give her back to our God, who also provides comfort in our time of mourning.
Memorial services will be held at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris, KY. on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will take place prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
