Obituary for Mary Jo Anderson (McGee)

Mary Josephine McGee Anderson, of Paris, Kentucky, wife of John S. Anderson, Jr., departed this life on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, surrounded by her husband and loving children, having attained the age of 88 years. Mary Jo was born in Winchester, Kentucky, on May 12, 1934, the daughter of the late John Chrysostom and Viva Sparks McGee, was a graduate of Saint Agatha High School in Winchester, attended Villa Madonna College, was a homemaker as well as the owner of the Chocolate Rabbit where she did custom art framing, and a member of the Catholic Church of the Annunciation. She was very good at arts and crafts, participating at many craft fairs; was a member of the Bluegrass Garden Club; former member of the Altar Society; active member at Spindletop Hall; and holds a Master Gardener Certificate.

In addition to her husband John, surviving are their children; Jennifer Jean Anderson (Chris), John S. “Basie” Anderson, III, Juliana Marie “Juli” (Joe) Norton, Joseph Patrick “Pat” (Jamie) Anderson, Mary Josephine “Jody” (Roy) Horner, Heidi Katherine (Jonatan) Montaño; grandchildren, Juliana Hain, Joseph Norton, Patrick Norton, Andy Norton, Martin Norton, Jerome Norton, Cecilia Norton, Jenny Hash, Maggie Booker, Seth Anderson, Claire French, Wally Horner, Hillary Horner, Francis Horner, Gordon Horner, Eleanor Horner, Adam Anderson, Zoe Jane Youse, and Nora Youse. Also surviving are great- grandchildren, Saoirse Hain, Aisling Hain, Aoife Hain, Eibhlin Hain, Atticus Hain, Luile Hain, Joseph Norton, Collette Norton, Lucy Norton, Benedict Norton, Patrick Norton, Raphael Norton, Natalie Hash, Kate Hash, Malaina Booker, D.J. Booker, Anderson Booker, Rowan French, Everett French, Lila Horner, and two that are yet to be born. Also surviving are her siblings; Wilda Roehm, Elizabeth Schenk, James Patrick McGee, and many cousins with a special mention of Katherine Langfels of Paris, Kentucky.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Catholic Church of the Annunciation with Rev. Daniel Fister officiating and concelebrated by Rev. Joseph Mary Brown. Interment will follow at Calvary cemetery with casket bearers being Adam Anderson, Seth Anderson, Joseph Norton, Patrick Norton, Andy Norton, Martin Norton, Wally Horner, and Gordon Horner. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home beginning at 5:00 p.m. with Rosary to begin at 7:30 p.m.
