Obituary for Mary Frances Jones (Sparks)

Mary Frances Sparks Jones, widow of Virgil Jones, departed this life on Monday evening, August 29, 2022, at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Cynthiana, having attained the age of 85 years. She was born on November 10, 1936, in Bourbon County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Ritsel Thomas and Christine Florence Sparks, a graduate of Lafayette High School, was the owner and operator of the Dairy Queen in Paris as well as in Aberdeen, Ohio, and a member of Aberdeen Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children, daughters, Christy Ann Jones (Sandy Kidd), Kimberly Lynn (Barry) Snapp, Julie Kay (Doug) Christopher; grandchildren, Erica Lynn Shadd, Rachel Kay (Kris) Gorlow, Jamie Carol Snapp (Chris Fuson), and Nicholas Allen Spivey (Mary Catherine Fowler). Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Lance (Abby Marsh) Gorlow, Laelan Gorlow; a sister, Dorothy Nichols; brothers, Gordon Lee (Lorraine) Sparks, Ritsel Thomas (Brenda) Sparks, Jr., and Ronald (Lucia) Sparks.

The funeral service for Mary Frances Sparks Jones will be at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. with Chaplain Esther Sapp officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Garden with casket bearers being Barry Snapp, Kris Gorlow, Nicholas Spivey, Lance Gorlow, Chris Fuson, and Hunter McFarland. Honorary bearers are Doug Christopher, Gordon Sparks, Ritsel Sparks, Jr., and Ronald Sparks. Visitation will be on Thursday evening, September 1, 2022, at Hinton-Turner Funeral from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
