Obituary for Matt Hume "Bud" Bedford Jr.

Matt Hume “Bud” Bedford, Jr., age 88, departed this life on November 2, 2020, in Paris. He was born in Paris on August 25, 1932, the son of the late Matt Hume Bedford, Sr. and Gladys Earlywine Bedford, attended Bourbon County Schools, and was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Matt, known to everyone as “Bud” lived his entire life in Bourbon County having farmed as he loved being outside. You could often find Bud on his John Deere mowing his yard that resembled a golf course. He would spend hours walking the farm with his four-legged companion Cal. One of his favorite things to do was eat at Jerry’s with his friends and he enjoyed visiting. Bud never knew a stranger and would talk with everyone, brightening their day.

Bud will be missed by his surviving sister, Mary Ross; two nieces, Mary Alice (Phil) Prater, and Margaret Ann (Todd) Gedde. Also surviving are his great nieces and nephews, James Ross (Jessica) Prater, Matthew (Brooke) Prater, Daniel Prater, Calynn Gedde, Marissa Gedde, Jarad Gedde, Elizabeth Gedde, and lifelong friend, Tom Acke and his late wife, Pat.
