Obituary for Mollie H. Wiseman (Howard )
Mollie H. Wiseman, 88, wife of Ted Wiseman, died Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Cedar Ridge Health Campus in Cynthiana. She was born November 28, 1932 in Flat Lick, Kentucky, daughter of the late Matt Archer Howard and Meldia Baker Delong. Due to the untimely death of her father, her mother later married her stepfather, the late Ervin Delong. Mollie’s stepdad was the man in her life until she met and married Ted, her husband of 70 years. She was a graduate of Barbourville High School and attended Union College.
Mollie was always active in the lives of her husband and children, attending ballgames, school functions, steam engine shows and local festivals where she and Ted operated Wiseman’s Mill for many years. Mollie always supported the Paris Greyhounds and the UK Wildcats and after her children were grown, she continued to support the local school system with 32 years of service on the Paris Independent School Board.
She was also the owner of several Merle Norman Cosmetics Studios in Paris and Georgetown and the manager of several in Lexington for over 40 years and was also active in numerous local community and church events. In addition, Mollie worked as a Nursing Home Ombudsman for the Nursing Home Ombudsman Agency of the Bluegrass and retired after several decades of service. Mollie was also awarded the honor of being a Kentucky Colonel in 2012.
Most importantly, her legacy was that of family. Not just those who were her blood relatives, but all those whose lives she influenced with love and understanding and just plain fun through the years. She was an amazing mother and grandmother, always making sure we learned and respected history. She enriched our lives with incredible trips and experiences, and wonderful stories of her life through the years.
In addition to her husband, Ted, Mollie is survived by a daughter, Suzanne (Kenny) Dungan; son, Keith (Pam) Wiseman; five grandchildren, Matthew Bales, Katie Bales, Mason (Nicole) Wiseman, Seth Wiseman, Vesko Wiseman; and a great granddaughter, Cecilia Wiseman.
