Obituary for MSG Robert H. "Bob" Geddings

MSG Robert H. “Bob” Geddings (US ARMY-RET), husband of Mary E. Haliday Geddings for 62 years, departed this life on, Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Bourbon Community Hospital at the age of 81. Bob was born in Columbia, South Carolina on February 03, 1941, the son of the late Horace Harvey and Lorraine Janell Crapps Geddings, received his associates degree in business management, taught ROTC at Millersburg Military Institute and Paris High School. He joined the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell in 1958, as a member of the United States Army, serving in Germany, Korea, Vietnam where he served in Military Assistance Command Vietnam (MACV), receiving the Bronze Star, and was a Drill Instructor at Fort Polk, LA and Range Safety Officer at Fort Jackson, SC. After retiring as a veteran of the United States Army he was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service; was a Kentucky Colonel, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking; obtained his real estate and auctioneer licenses and worked for McConnell Real Estate and Auctions. He was a member of the Disabled Americans Veterans as well as First Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and elder. Most of all, Bob loved his wife and family dearly.

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by a son, Robert A. (Amy Carpenter) Geddings; daughter, Melinda K. (Mark) Odom; and a sister, Shirley (Joe) Keels. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Josh (Tiffany) Lake; Gary (Morgan) Geddings, Staci (Raymond) Jackson, Zacary Anderson, Jared Anderson, Sophia Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Josie Lake, Xander Lake, and Xoey Lake, Gracen Geddings, Dawson Geddings, Sawyer Jackson, Forrest Jackson, and Clay Jackson. A great granddaughter, Annabelle Jackson, preceded him in death.

The funeral service for MSGT Robert H. Geddings will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Jose’ Luis Casal officiating. Interment will be in Paris cemetery with casket bearers being Josh Lake, Gary Geddings, Ray Jackson, Jared Anderson, Zacary Anderson, Mark Odom, and Xander Lake. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 29, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
