Obituary for Nancy Clara McCracken

Nancy Clara McCracken passed suddenly from this life on December 20, 2021 in her home in Atlanta, GA at the age of 51.

She was born on January 10, 1970 to the late Frank C. McCracken Jr and Reverend Sue McCracken in Louisville, KY. A 1988 graduate of Paris High School, she attended the University of Kentucky where she had a goal to "meet every person on campus". She completed her college career at King College in Bristol, TN where she earned a degree in political science. Nancy put her degree to good use working in information technology as the Chief Information Officer for Powerco Federal Credit Union.

Nancy loved to travel and met the love of her life, David Harman, on one of her many trips. They got engaged on October 15, 2021 and were to be married on September 17th, 2022.

The simple pleasures of life brought Nancy great joy. She loved a good movie with popcorn, a glass of wine with a friend, a book while floating in a pool/ocean/lake and gathering together with friends and family. She was loved by everyone that met her and she never met a stranger. She was a talented crafter and loved making handmade gifts for all of her friends and family. Her heart was huge, her grace boundless, and her companionship was always a joy. She taught us all how to live well.

Nancy was a member of the First Christian Church (DOC) in Paris, KY, the Jemima Johnson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Zeta Sorority and the Atlanta Junior League.

She is survived by her fiancé, David Harman (Atlanta, GA), mother Sue Horsley McCracken(Paris, KY), brother Asa Campbell McCracken (Amy), her nieces that affectionately called her "Fancy Nancy" Laura Campbell and Elisabeth Clara McCracken (all of Paris, KY), Aunt Nannette Stone (Pensacola, FL) , Uncle Evoyd E. Horsley Jr. (Lexington, KY), many cousins and dear friends. She is preceded in death by a sister Kate Thompson McCracken, her father Frank C. McCracken Jr, grandparents Evoyd E. Horsley Sr., Nancy Wallace Horsley and Frank C McCracken Sr, Clara Bell Haley McCracken (all of Paris, KY).

A small graveside ceremony will be held in the Paris Cemetery on Thursday January 6th at 1:00 officiated by Reverend Jeff Bell. A celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Paris First Christian Church or Heifer International.

How sad we are now, but how lucky we were. And how fortunate we are still to have all the stories and experiences and memories we shared. Let us find peace in the past to carry our hearts forward.
