Obituary for Nora Day (Liggett)

Nora Liggett Shrout Day, wife of Benton Day, died unexpectedly on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Baptist Health in Lexington, having attained the age of 72 years. Nora was born in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, on October 11, 1948, the daughter of the late Fred Warren Liggett, Sr. and Lydia Dee Workman Liggett, was a graduate of Bryan Station High School, and retired, having worked as the Insurance manager for Bluegrass Eye Care Center, as well as having been a clerk for American General Insurance. She was a board member, treasurer, and Sunday School Teacher at Paris Church of the Nazarene where she was a member, as well as being actively involved in many aspects of the church. She loved to cook and enjoyed family activities.

In addition to her husband, Benton Day, surviving is a son, Ronnie “R.J.” (Ginny) Shrout, Jr.; four grandchildren, Tyler Matthews, Abigail Morehead, Charlie Morehead, Scarlett Morehead; brother Fred (Anita) Liggett, Jr.; and sister, Joyce Darlene (Danny) Hayden. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Randy) Zieger, Ashley (Kate) Hayden, Twila (Pete) Kennedy, Kaycee Kennedy, Austin Kennedy, Jeremy Liggett, Jason Liggett, Jessica (Thomas) Alderman; and one special great niece, Brooklyn Kennedy.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held for Nora Liggett Shrout Day at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Clyburn officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with casket bearers being Jason Liggett, Jeremy Liggett, Thomas Alderman, and Glen Buckler. www.hintonturner.com
