Obituary for Norma Jean Lyle (Rudder)

Norma Jean Rudder Lyle, wife of William H. Lyle for 73 years, of North Middletown, departed this life on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at her home, with family by her side, having attained the age of 92 years. Norma was born on June 20, 1929, in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Espy and Lalah Griffin Rudder, was a high school graduate of Mount Sterling High School, and a homemaker. She was an active member of North Middletown Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the ladies ceramics group at church, and Circle 5. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Smith.

Along with her husband William, she is survived by a daughter, Debbie (Darrell) Poynter; three sons, George William “Billy” (Mary Martin) Lyle, Thomas Rudder Lyle, Greg A. (Linda) Lyle; six grandchildren, Brian Poynter (Lorena), Chris Poynter (Andy Embry), Caitlin Lyle, Amber (Zach) Weinberg, Tabitha (Joey) Arnold, and Gregory Alan Lyle, Jr. Also surviving are twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Doug (Laura) Rudder, Wayne (Frankie) Rudder; sister, Gaynell Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Betty Rupard, Ruth Grimes, and a brother-in-law, Paul Lyle; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Norma Jean Rudder Lyle will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Sharon Fields and Chris Poynter officiating. Interment will follow in North Middletown Cemetery with casket bearers being Chris Poynter, Brian Poynter, Alan Lyle, Sam Poynter, Caleb Arnold, and Tyler Arnold. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time for the service.
