Phyllis Ann McKenzie “Meemaw” Claypool, of Cynthiana, widow of Billy E. Claypool, departed this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, at the age of 82 years. Phyllis was born on January 24, 1941, the daughter of the late Nellie Lee Griffin and Lewis McKenzie in Bourbon County, Kentucky, was a retired seamstress having worked for Kentucky Textiles, a member of Ruddles Mills Christian Church, and attended Connersville Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing and loved spending time with her family.
Surviving is a daughter, Gina (Elmer) West; sons, Kirk (Robin) Claypool, Timmy (Gemma) Claypool; grandchildren, Jonathan Claypool, Jerrod Claypool, Corey (Stacy) Claypool, Cody (Hannah) Claypool, Heather (Todd) McConnell, Ryan (Kayla) Claypool, Tyler West, Hilary (Clint) Gaunce, and Haley West. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Rhett Claypool, Hattie Claypool, Pete Claypool, Adelaide McConnell, Keller McConnell, Sadie Gaunce, Ryleigh Gaunce, Conner Claypool, Carter Claypool, Kenley Claypool, Harper Claypool, Hudson Claypool, Jolee Claypool, Jade Claypool; and a sister, Mildred “Sissy” (Larry) Jolly.
The funeral service for Phyllis Ann McKenzie “Meemaw” Claypool will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Warren French and Rev. John McGuire officiating. Interment will follow in Paris Cemetery with casket bearers being Jonathan Claypool, Corey Claypool, Cody Claypool, Tyler West, Ryan Claypool, Conner Claypool, Clint Gaunce, and Todd McConnell. Honorary bearers are the granddaughters and great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home.
