Obituary for Rev. Dr. William Arthur ""Bill"" Curwood

Rev. Dr. William Arthur “Bill” Curwood, husband of Rev. Linda Case Curwood, departed this life on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky, having attained the age of 88 years. Bill was born on November 09, 1934, in Oamaru, New Zealand, the son of the late Alfred and Anna Todd Curwood, attended Waitaki Boys High School, joined the merchant firm of J. Rattray & Son, rising to the position of company accountant, before entering Glen Leith Bible College to train for Christian Ministry. He graduated from Glen Leith in 1965 having gained the Reid Scholarship for the most improved student and twice gaining the prized Scott Memorial in Church History. He was ordained as a minister of the Associated Dominion Churches of Christ in New Zealand, (Disciples of Christ) at the Annual Dominion Conference in Lower Hutt in October of 1965. He is an alumnus of Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand. He has served several churches, the first being Spring Grove Church in Nelson, then to Moorhouse Avenue in the city of Christchurch, and state side he served at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Garrard County, North Middletown Christian Church, First Christian Church – Fort Thomas, and First Christian Church in Sedalia, MO. After retirement, he served as interim pastor for several churches. He was also a voluntary chaplain at two city hospitals.

In addition to his wife, Rev. Linda Lou Case Curwood, whom he married in 1976, he is survived by one daughter, Rev. Anna Hope Curwood (Trent) Wills; an identical twin brother, John (Edith) Curwood, and a brother Ivan (Noeline) Curwood. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ron (Joan) Curwood.

There will be a memorial service for Rev. Dr. William Arthur “Bill” Curwood at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Central Christian Church with Rev. Elizabeth King officiating. Interment will be in North Middletown Cemetery.
