Obituary for Robert Bruce "Bob" Milam

Robert Bruce Milam, 62, of Warner Robins, Georgia received his heavenly healing following a nine and half month medical journey. Born to Bernie and Jane Milam and welcomed by 10 month old twin brothers, Jimmy and Johnny, Bob grew up in Paris, Kentucky where he enjoyed baseball, band, scouts, 4-H, and First Christian Church's youth activities. After graduating from Paris High School, he then graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Engineering. In 1982, he began his 34 year electrical engineer career at Robins Air Force base. In 1997, he received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Georgia College and State University. Bob retired in 2017 as Chief Engineer, Radar Warning Section within the Foreign Military Sales Division. His retirement lasted less than 48 hours as he became a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer for Mercer University's Engineering Research Center.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Christ, Macon, where he and Sonya met, married, and raised their sons. He served as a deacon and chair of the audio visual servant team.

His legacy of family, work ethic, "the good fights", higher education, love of UK basketball, and church and community service is left to his wife of 28 years, Sonya; his three sons, Justin , Conner, and Matthew; his mother, Jane; brothers, Jim and John; nieces, Lauren Milam, Allie Keough , and Elizabeth Milam; nephews, Chris and Daniel Milam, Josh and Adam Stitzer, Andrew and Donovan Hester; eight great nieces and great nephews; his mother-in-law, Doshia Scarbrough ; nieces, Lyndsey and Emily White; nephew, Jermey White; and his god-children, Olivia and Max McMillan. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father, Bernie C. Milam.

The funeral service for Robert Bruce Milam will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Dr. Bo Prosser and Dr. Larry Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Carlisle Cemetery with casket bearers being Christopher Milam, Daniel Milam, Josh Stitzer, Adam Stitzer, Mike Anderson, Chuck Milam, Donovan Hester, and Andrew Hester. Honorary bearers are Lauren Milam, Allie Keough, and Elizabeth Mitchell. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time for the service. The funeral service will be webcast live on the funeral home’s website. A Memorial Service will also be on Sunday, October 10, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Christ, Macon, Georgia, which will be live streamed on the church’s Facebook page, with Rev. Scott Dickison and Rev. Kelsey Stillwell officiating. Music will be led by Dr. Stanley Roberts, Marie Roberts, and Olivia McMillan. The family request masking inside in both Paris and Georgia at visitation and at the funeral and memorial service.
