Obituary for Roberta Howell Moberley Dickson

Roberta Howell Moberley Dickson of Paris, Kentucky, departed this life peacefully on October 31, 2021, after a brief illness.

Roberta was born in Mt Sterling, KY, on April 7, 1936. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Stanley "Stan" Smith Dickson Jr., her father William Henry Moberley, mother Nancy Virginia Bridgeforth Moberley, and Emily Katherine Meng "Cabby" Moberley.

She is survived by a son William “Bill” Moberley Dickson (Vanessa), Paris, KY, and daughter, Mary Louise “Mollie” Dickson Shook, Charleston, SC; grandchildren Chelsea, Allie and Henry C. Dickson, Meredith B. Reeves (Joseph), William “Will” Berge (Caroline), Mary Virginia “MV” B., E. Anne D., and A. Parker Shook, and one great-grandchild, Merritt Malone Reeves. She also is survived by her sister her Katie Moberley McFadyen (Don), Fayetteville, NC,

Roberta attended college at Randolph-Macon College in Lynchburg, VA, received her Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology from Vanderbilt University, and a Master's Degree in Microbiology from the University of Kentucky.
Her working career included time with the CDC in Atlanta and in the 1980's Roberta returned Spalding University where she earned her BSN. She practiced at Jewish Hospital in Louisville on cardiac-thoracic unit.

Roberta and her husband, Stan, enjoyed traveling and especially loved their time in Africa, Australia, and Greece, and winters in Boca Grande, Florida. Upon Stan’s death, she continued her interests in gardening, history, Kentucky hand-crafted furniture, Kentucky artists, and genealogy, serving as a board member and docent of Locust Grove, home of General George Rogers Clark. She was also a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She remained close to her many friends in Louisville after her move to Paris, especially her book club and Derby group.

Visitation will take place Sunday, November 7, 2021, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 311 High St, Paris, Ky. The funeral service will also be held at St. Peter's on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at the North Middletown Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, Paris, Ky.
