Obituary for Russell Coleman "Curly" Banta

Russell Coleman “Curly” Banta of Paris, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 1, 2019, at his home, having attained the age of 92. He was born on December 2, 1926 in his home at Jackstown, Kentucky. He was the youngest son of the late John Bascom and Margaret Jane Wasson Banta. He attended Nicholas County Schools and obtained his GED from Bourbon County Schools. He was a mechanic and a self-taught “fixer” of almost anything. He loved planting a garden in order to give the fruits of his labor to family and friends. Most of all, he was a Godly man who loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. He had such a sweet disposition to everyone and a smile that could melt a heart. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paris. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, and the love of his life for 49 years, Geneva McQueen Banta, and 4 brothers, Carl, Alvin, Ray and Marion Banta.
Surviving is a daughter, Rubelee Banta, two sons, Ronald Coleman Banta (Faye), Russell Darrell Banta (Robbie), two grandsons, Chad Banta and Russell Lee Banta, as well as special family member, David Buzzard and friend Jeff Clark.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Pastor Kyle Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Paris Cemetery with casket bearers being Chad Banta, Russell Lee Banta, David Buzzard, Jeff Clark, Grant McQueen, Phillip Banta and Bobby Banta. Visitation will be on Friday, July 5, 2019, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home.
