Obituary for Russell Lee "Dickie" Brunner

Russell L. (better known as Dickie) was born November 8, 1938 in Clark County, KY to Richard G. and Mafre Ashcraft Brunner and departed this life April 20, 2023. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Paris, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was a graduate of Paris High School and attended the University of Kentucky. He began his public service as a police dispatcher, then as an officer and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After military service he continued his public career as a Deputy Sheriff, Bourbon County Auditor, and retired as Paris City Manager in 1996.

Dickie is survived by his wife of 24 years Rae Jean, five children, Dwayne Duncan (Pam), Lezlie Hunt (Greg), Lee Anne Hopkins (William), Jonathon Brunner (Lindsay), Kirstin Rassenfoss (Eddie). He is also survived by a brother, L. Keith Brunner (Priscilla) and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Southerland.

After retirement, he was Maintenance Director, Treasurer and accountant for the Hopewell Museum. He might occasionally be found mowing a neighbor's yard.

A private family service will be held at the Chapel of the Paris Cemetery with interment to follow there. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dickie’s life on Tuesday, May 2nd at the Hopewell Museum from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Hopewell Museum, 800 Pleasant Street, Paris, KY 40361.
