Ruth Elkins Bailey, of Paris, widow of Richard Thomas Bailey, departed this life on November 23, 2022, at Bourbon Community Hospital, having attained the age of 86 years. Ruth was born in Bourbon County on June 20, 1936, the daughter of Fisher and Emma Fyffe Elkins, was a graduate of Bourbon County High School, a homemaker, and member of Central Baptist Church where she and her husband were former Sunday School teachers. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a twin sister, Ruby Elkins; sisters, Nora Elkins, Martha Myers, Josephine Jolly, Dorcas McVey, Violet Watkins; brothers, Walter Elkins, William Elkins, Clyde Elkins, Boyd Elkins; and son-in-law, Dwaine Mattox.

Surviving are children, John Bailey, Karin (Keith) Buchanan, Kathryn Mattox, Richard (Lisa) Bailey. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jenna Dailey (Clay Smith), Dawn Bailey, Micah (Cassidy) Mattox, Bailey Mattox; a great grandchild, Fitzgerald Banks Mattox; and a sister, Marianne Albright.

The funeral service for Ruth Elkins Bailey will be on Saturday, November 26, 2022, 12:00 noon, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Gatewood officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until time for the service. Interment will immediately follow in Paris cemetery with casket bearers being Micah Mattox, Keith Buchanan, James Albright, Danny Albright, Freddy Myers, and Craig Bailey. www.hintonturner.com
