Virginia E. Turner, 85, wife of Reuben Turner Jr., died Friday, January 24, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. She was born September 1, 1934 in Woodford County, daughter of the late Tom and Ruth Quisenberry Stanforth.
Virginia was an active member of both North Middletown Christian Church (Disciple of Christ) and Deland Florida Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), serving as an elder at both churches. She was a choir member, member of the Ladies Women’s Circle, served various positions in the church, active in the Christian Women’s Club, and was also active in Operation Food Basket.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Reuben; two daughters, Sandy Slade, Jan (Carlos) Coyle; a son, Tom (Tina) Turner; grandchildren, Lucas (Katy) Slade, Lacey (Josh) Hutchison, Nathan Turner; great grandchildren, Paisley Hutchison, Slade Hutchison, Hayden Hutchison, Abby Slade, Harris Slade; and a sister, Shirley Woodward. Virginia was preceded in death by a daughter, Deby Turner; and a granddaughter, Amanda Rodgers.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Stephanie Moon. Interment will be in Paris Cemetery with casket bearers being Bill Woodward, Mark Russell, Steve Schooler, Carlos Coyle, Josh Hutchison, Gayle Slade, and Jeff McFarland. Honorary bearers are Bruce Forsythe, Raymond Johnson and Dr. Nathan Moore. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to North Middletown Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
