Obituary for Wanda Roberts (Gill)
Wanda Gill Roberts, of North Middletown, widower of Vernon Roberts, departed this life on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at her home with family by her side, having attained the age of 89 years. Wanda was born in Mason County, Kentucky, on May 25, 1932, the daughter of the late Orville and Gertrude Latham Gill, was a high school graduate, served many years in the cafeteria as a cook in Harrison County Schools, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Winchester, Kentucky. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Marlon “Bub” Gill, Mary Lee Sambol, and Morris Gill.
Surviving is a daughter, Ruth Roberts (Tom) Hay; a son, Vernon Davis “Dusty” Roberts, Jr.; grandchildren, Theresa Cloyd, Troy (Tara) Simpson, Paige (Mike) Hall, and Catrina (Larry) Shifflet. Also surviving are eleven great grandchildren, Josh (Kami) Cloyd, Brittney (Austin) Nichols, Spencer Whalen, Jason Simpson, Austin (Samantha) Simpson, Cameron Hall, Bryce Hall, Nataleigh Shifflet, Larry Shifflet, Jr., Landon Shifflet, Brody Shifflet; great great grandchildren, Natalie Wade, Tristin Cloyd, Charleigh Nichols, Carson Simpson, Clayton Simpson; and a sister, Christine (J.C.) Hash.
The funeral service for Wanda Gill Roberts will be at 1:00 p.m. at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home on Monday, August 9, 2021, with Bro. Jesse Kline officiating. Interment will follow in Old Union Cemetery with casket bearers being Josh Cloyd, Jason Simpson, Austin Simpson, Larry Shifflet, Jr., Landon Shifflet, Cameron Hall, and Bryce Hall. Honorary bearers are Tom Hay, Brittney Nichols, Nataleigh Shifflet, Mike Hall, David Waddell, Kim Waddell, Patrick Waddell, and Betty Waddell. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time for the service.
