Obituary for Wheeler Haggard Hay

Wheeler Haggard Hay, widower of Mildred “Mickey” Frances Davis Hay, departed this life on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family, having attained the age of 96 years. Wheeler was born in Winchester, Kentucky, the son of the late Edward Thomas and Margaret Haggard Hay, attended Oxford school, was a farmer, and member of Bedford Acres Christian Church, where he was a charter member, deacon, and former treasurer. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ada Wyles; three brothers, Carl, Billy, Gene Hay; and a daughter-in-law, Patti Hay.

Surviving is a daughter, Esther Powell, and her husband Danny; a son, Jeff Hay, and his wife Betty; nine grandchildren, Michelle Demery (Dave), Nathan Powell, Amanda Powell, Holly Patrick (Matt), Brandan Powell, Jillian Powell, Erin Cook (John), Caitlin Hubler (Harry, III), and Matthew Hay. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Bradley, Kimber, Kyler, and Kelsie Powell, Clara Cook, Samuel Cook, Hayven Patrick, Estdan Patrick; two sisters, Peggy Holland, Judy Congleton; and one brother, Ed “Junior” Hay.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Bedford Acres Christian Church with Bro. Don Menke officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens with casket bearers being, Don Menke, Bill Davis, Barry Hay, Larry Hay, Hank Hubler, and Matthew Hay. Honorary bearers are John Coleman, Eddie Sosby, Daniel Campbell, Dr. Robert Biddle, Patrick Thompson, and Brian Abell.
