Obituary for William Shannon "Billy" Davidson Jr.

William “BILLY” Shannon Davidson Jr., 61, of Bourbon County closed the gate and left his work on earth to reap the harvest in Heaven and be with his Savior. In 1958, Billy was born to the late William and Mary Jewel Davidson. Billy was a simple man who lived and worked on the same farm on Clay Kiser Road for his entire life. His passion and life was farming, which was evident in his involvement with several organizations. Billy participated in both the Bluegrass State and Regional Event with The Young Farmers Organization. He also hosted several regional summer events at his farm throughout the organization’s history. Billy was also an honorary member of the Future Farmers of America. He was a longtime supporter of the Bluegrass Market Show. Billy raised and showed his hogs for many years and was known statewide for his hog operation. Billy chaired the Bourbon County Greased Pig contest during the fair for 42 years and he will FOREVER be known for his “Main Event”. Billy enjoyed bringing excitement and fun to children of all ages while exposing them to agriculture, dirt and plain old fun from down on the farm. He was a member of Silas Baptist Church for which he would provide a pig roast for each year. He also attended Ruddles Mill Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his sister Jane Miller Davidson. He is survived by sister Mary Jo (Chuck) Norman; nephew Chuck (Bethany) Norman of Tennessee; niece Carolyn Lee (Michael) Ronco of North Carolina; 6 grand nieces and nephews. In addition, he was survived by Terry Jordan York his loving companion. Billy never forgot a name, face or birthdate and could tell you that information about his host of friends.
