Obituary for Wilma Lee Shannon (Watkins)

Wilma Lee Shannon, widow of Floyd Turner Shannon, departed this life at her home on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, having attained the age of 84 years. Wilma was born on January 16, 1938, in Ruddles Mill, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Ella Lee Sams and James Reese Watkins, Jr., was a graduate of Nicholas County High School, had worked as a store clerk for J.C. Penny, a bookkeeper for Shannon’s Aluminum, and was a member of Paris Church of Christ where she was baptized on April 22, 2001. Also, she had co-owned Polka Dots and Lace consignment store, was a breast cancer survivor, enjoyed bowling, reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, playing scrabble, and especially loved her grandchildren.
Surviving is a daughter, Susan Marlene Shannon West; three grandchildren, Harrison Tyler West, Braeden Alexander West, Hayden Tate West; and a brother, James Reese Watkins, Jr. Preceding her in death was a sister, Patsy Marlene Allen.
An informal memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20th, 2022, at Paris Cemetery in Paris, KY with Assistant Pastor Joel Fugate officiating from Clays Mill Baptist Church.
