Anna May Bartlett Rainey, 86, widow of John L. Rainey, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 28, 201, at her home on Thatchers Mill Road where she had resided since 1940. She was born January 31, 1925 in Winchester, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Louise Crain Bartlett, educated in Clark County schools and graduated from North Middletown High School in 1942. She was very active in the North Middletown community, through the school where both of her children attended and the North Middletown Community club where she and her husband were co-chairmen of the Horse Show. She also served in many capacities in the North Middletown Christian Church, being a 60+ year member. She taught Sunday School, her favorite being the "Young Ladies Bible Class", a member of the CWF and worked tirelessly for the annual Bazaar. Her gentle words and unconditional love will be greatly missed. She is survived by a son, John Franklin Rainey; a daughter, Sara Ann (Clayton) Chamberlain, both of Bourbon County; nephew, Thomas (Marilyn) Monroe, Springfield; niece, Elizabeth King, Gulf Shores, AL; great nephew, Benjamin (Lindsay) Monroe; great niece, Tara (Nick) Smith; and a great grandniece, Jalyn Monroe. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the North Middletown Christian Church by Rev. Bob Silvanik with burial in North Middletown Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Tom Monroe, Ben Monroe, Nick Smith, Matthew Taylor, Bill Burns, and Charlie Heaberlain. Honorary bearers will be members of the Young Ladies Bible Class, Circle 1 of the CWF, Dolly C. Jones, Gladys Oldson, Patsy K. Rainey, Billye Jean Stigall, Betty Long, Rex Rawlings, and Jimmy McFarland. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to North Middletown Volunteer Fire Department or CWF of North Middletown Christian Church.
