Anna Katherine Heaton Smoot, 83, widow of Grimes Allen Smoot, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Bourbon Heights Nursing Home. She was born February 4, 1932 in Mount Sterling, daughter of the late Russell and Rosie Lovell Kissick Heaton, attended Montgomery County schools, and attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington. Anna had worked at Hansley Mill, International Spike, and Paris Independent Schools in the cafeteria. She is survived by one son, Jeffrey Allen (Mary Claire) Smoot, Lexington; three grandchildren, Justin Smoot, Anna McNeil (Jake) Elliott, Elizabeth McNeil; and two great grandchildren, Jude and Edgar Elliott. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. James Stillwell with burial in Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Justin Smoot, Anna Elliott, Elizabeth McNeil, Danny Biddle, David Weinhold, and Anne Weinhold. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bourbon Heights Nursing Home or Alzheimer's Association.
