Bertha Rea Harper, 92, Lexington, formerly of Paris, widow of Marvin Grant Harper, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Charleston Health Center in Danville. She was born December 3, 1914 in Albemarle County, Virginia, daughter of the late Virgil Rice and Essie Lena Hawkins Rea. Mrs. Harper is survived by a daughter, Brenda Jasper, Danville; two grandsons, Kevin (Terre') Jasper, Jimmy (Jennifer) Jasper, both of Owensboro; a great grandson, Noah Grant Jasper; a sister, Marjorie Crowder, Lynchburg, VA; and a brother, Virgil Rea, Jr., Waynesboro, VA. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Mowry, Annie Mahanes; and three brothers, Massie, Dennis, and Earl Rea. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Jimmy Jasper and Terre' Jasper. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007, in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Memorial contributions are suggested to Harrodsburg Baptist Foundation Scholarship Fund.
