Berthel W. Rau, 98, Bourbon Hills Drive, widow of Russell E. Rau, died Thursday, January 11, 2006. She was born September 27, 1908 in Cambridge, Ohio, daughter of the late William A. and Marjorie Bebout Sigman, Sr. Mrs. Rau was a homemaker most of her life, worked in a defense plant in Maplewood, Missouri during World War II, and was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Paris. She is survived by two sons, William E. Rau and his wife Sara J., Falls Church, VA, Russell W. Rau and his wife Carol M., Paris; eight grandchildren, Steve (Cathy) Rau, Scott Rau, Shari Rau, Shane (Melinda) Rau, Kenneth (Janet) Rau, Matthew (Eunja) Rau, Jonathan (Pelin) Rau, Christopher (Susan) Rau; nine great grandchildren, Jaime Rau, Eric Rau, Robert Rau, Daniel Rau, Dorothy Rau, Benjamin Rau, Alexander Rau, Katherine Oh Rau, Harrison Rau; two sisters, Jean (Raymond) Jordan, Gail Burns; two brothers, Donald (Elfrieda) Sigman, Terry (Lorie) Sigman; and two special friends, Beulah Sunrise and Beverly Denton. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Maxine Henke, Faye Sokolsky, Shirley Jordan; and a brother, William Sigman, Jr. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, at the Fey Funeral Home, Mehlville, MO with interment in the Sunset Memorial Park, St. Louis. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial contibutions are suggested to First Christian Church, Paris, or one's favorite charity.
