Betty Jo Combs, 86, Lexington, passed away peacefully after a long illness on December 8, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center. She was born December 31, 1922 in Knott County, daughter of the late Julius and Virginia Amburgey Young and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Haddix, Paris, Laverna Green, Lexington; three sons, Jim Combs, Fort Wayne, IN, Darrell Combs, Paris, Merle (Susan) Combs, Gas City, IN; eleven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Combs; a brother, Lafayette Young; and seven sisters, Dorothy, Rachael, Bethel, Ethel, Dyance, Devada, and Alta. Betty was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 14, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. David W. Stokes with burial in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jon Antoniou, Billy Duncan, Neal Turner, Ron Johnson, Jim Combs, and Merle Combs. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials are suggested the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
