Betty Jewell Heflin, 74, Bourbon Hills Drive, a retired Kentucky Textiles seamstress, wife of Woodrow Pat Heflin, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at her home. She was born November 25, 1936 in North Middletown, daughter of the late Woodrow and Janie Combs Bates, a graduate of Bourbon County High School, and was a member of Shady Dell Primitive Baptist Church. She is also survived by two daughters, Sandra (Ron) Logsdon, Stamping Ground, Julia ( Doug) McIlvain, Bourbon County; three grandchildren, Silas Logsdon, Emily Logsdon, Katelyn McIlvain; and three sisters, Thelma (Thomas) Stumph Irene (Bobby) Davis, and Beulah Bates, all of Paris. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Clay Bates and Woodrow Bates Jr. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Elder Paul Trautner with burial in the Clintonville Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Thomas Stumph Jr., Larry Martin, Billy Davis, Lanny Arnold, Jeff Arnold, and Danny Hatton. Honorary bearers will be Janie Martin, Connie Smith, Clay Davis, and her grandchildren. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
