Bettye Jean Owen Kookendoffer, 83, widow of James Thomas Kookendoffer, died Thursday, June 2, 2011. She was born August 24, 1927 in Bourbon County, daughter of the late Curtis B. and Iva Jane Dennis Owen, a graduate of Center Hill High School, and was a member of First United Methodist Church and former member of Circle #5. Bettye is survived by three daughters, Leona (Carl) Yazell, Betsy (Rick) Hopper, Tracey Lee Kookendoffer, all of Paris; a sister, Allene Crump, Paris; two brothers, Henry Clay (Betty) Owen, Paris, Douglas Allen (Wanda) Owen, AL; five grandchildren, Kelly Yazell, Heather Yazell, Travis (Hannah) Yazell, Melissa (Robbie) Payne, B.J. Heflin; seven great grandchildren, Jacob Thomas Yazell, Jackson Travis Yazell, John Taylor Yazell, Gavin Lee Payne, Marlee Creed Payne, Kaygen Jack Heflin, Cheyenne Heflin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A sister, Leona Kookendoffer, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 6, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Dan Russell with burial in Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Alvin Stamper, Michael Kookendoffer, Jack Crump, Curtis Crump, Neil Crump, and Samuel Crump. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 Sunday.
