Billy Jones, 81, widower of Ava Mae McCann Jones, died Friday, August 29, 2014 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He was born August 7, 1933 in Bourbon County, son of the late Ellis and Hazel Hatton Jones. Billy attended Bourbon County schools prior to his employment with Ashland Oil and Refining Company where he retired as an office supervisor. He was a former Deacon of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a member of the Pistol Team, stationed in Hawaii. Billy's passion was collecting and refinishing antique furniture. He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Anna L. Jones; two granddaughters, Heather Lynn Jones, Anna Nicole "Nikki" Jones; a brother, Virgil (Mary) Jones; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey L. Jones; a sister, Lucille Jones; and two brothers, Howard and Huston Jones. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Jeff Bell with burial in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Bryan Jones, Barry Jones, Chris Jones, Michael Jones, Steve Jones, Mike Jones, and John Snapp. Honorary bearers will be Raymond VanHook, Frank Honaker, Jim Prater, Bill Rudd, and Fred Finkbiner. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church.
