Charles Leroy Linville Sr., loving husband, father, and grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 21, 2014. Leroy was born February 9, 1935 in Bourbon County, Kentucky, son of the late Leslie and Margaret Linville. He was founding owner and operator of Linville Electric Service, Inc., which he established in 1965. This became his lifetime calling of service to his customers and community.
He was born into and later baptized in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Paris, where he served as Elder and Deacon, Chaired the Property Committee, served on the Finance Committee, and was a member of the Hanna Sunday School class. He was also instrumental in providing the Live Nativity at First Christian Church for the community for over 30 years and was involved in the planning for this year's Nativity. Leroy was widely loved and respected by his church and appreciated for his lifelong service.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Margaret Linville; and two brothers, O.C. Linville and Bobby Linville. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda R. Linville; three children, Rita (Royce) Bugg, Debbie (John) Shivel, Charles (Jennifer) Linville; and a brother, L.C. Linville. His life was richly blessed with seven grandchildren, Neil Bugg, Scott Bugg, Olivia Shivel, John Matthew Shivel, Charlie Linville III, Laura Linville, Evan Linville; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at First Christian Church, 911 High Street, Paris, Kentucky, with Rev. Jeff Bell officiating. Burial will be in Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Neil Bugg, Scott Bugg, Charlie Linville III, Evan Linville, John Matthew Shivel, Redden Bugg, Olivia Shivel, and Laura Linville. Members of the Hanna Sunday School Class will serve as honorary bearers. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested for First Christian Church, 911 High Street, Paris, KY 40361.
