Christine Hopkins Helphenstine, 79, Yorktown Drive, retired 25 year employee of the Bourbon County School system, wife of Paul W. Helphenstine, died Thursday, April 22, 2010 at her home. She was born September 23, 1930 in Bourbon County, daughter of the late Tommy and Mabel Tevis Hopkins, attended Center Hill School, and was a member of the Shamrock Homemakers and Bedford Acres Christian Church. Christine is also survived by a son, David D. (Patty) Helphenstine, Lexington; a granddaughter, Kristina Joy Helphenstine, Lexington; three brothers, Eugene (Mary) Hopkins, Bourbon County, James (Mary) Hopkins, Paris, Ernest (Eva) Hopkins, Bourbon County; an aunt, Margaret Maynard, Bourbon County; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. John McGuire with entombment in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Billy Cameron, Danny Cameron, Thomas Eugene Hopkins, Jr., Larry Hopkins, Elmer Puckett, and Harold Puckett. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
