Dixie Traylor Jasper, a retired English teacher for the Paris and Bourbon County school systems, wife of H.D. Jasper, died Thursday, November 5, 2014. She was born in Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Samuel Frank and Lena Salman Patrum. Dixie was a graduate of Lindsey Wilson College and received her Master's Degree from the University of Kentucky. She was a member of Paris-Bourbon County Historical Society, U.K. Alumni Association, Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, and the First United Methodist. In addition to her husband, Dixie is also survived by a son, Milton O. "Tony" (Angela) Traylor, Louisville; three grandchildren, Allison, Kristen, and Lauren Traylor; two stepsons, Richard (Linda) Jasper, Somerset, Jon (Susan) Jasper, Tyler, TX; a stepdaughter, Mary Carolyn Carter, Ashland; and brother-in-law, Milton Shuffett. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Milton O. Traylor; and two sisters, Elizabeth Culton and Frankie Shuffett. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Jerri Williams and Rev. Gary Graves with burial in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Tom Harlan, David Woodford, Whit Criswell, Jon Jasper, Joedy Sharpe, and Estill Pennington. Honorary bearers will be Richard Eads, Tom Culton, Lin Sharpe, and Milton Shuffett. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, 617 Pleasant St, Paris, KY 40361.
