Earl Gene Williams Sr., 78, retired City of Paris Water Department superintendant, U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, died Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville. He was born February 1, 1932 in Paris, son of the late Carl and Rosie Waugh Williams, was a member of Central Baptist Church and Paris Lodge #2 F&AM, and was a Kentucky Colonel. Earl had 30 years of military service, serving in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anna Margaret Reed Williams; a daughter, Mavis (Rickey) Fryman, Carlisle; a son, Carl Williams, Winchester; four grandchildren, Richard (Donna) Williams, Paris, Stephanie Williams, Atlanta, GA; Jamie Barlow, Carlisle; Carl Ray (Jen) Williams, Cincinnati, OH; and a great granddaughter, Faith Williams, Carlisle. Earl was preceded in death by son, Earl Gene Williams Jr.; and a grandson, Travis Fryman. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 9, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Dan Russell with burial in the Paris Cemetery. Masonic services will be conducted at the Paris Cemetery Chapel following the service. Casket bearers will be Travis Campbell, Kevin Crump, Woody Fryman, Jessie Crockett, Steven Crockett, and Jamie Barlow. Honorary bearers will be Dr. James L. Ferrell, Marvin Hedges, Frank Crockett, Rev. Jesse Baxter, and the employees of South Shore Neighbor at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville. Visitation will after 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
